Improving Emotional Well Being
All About Therapy
In today's society, seeking to improve one's mental health has become increasingly acceptable. However, taking that first step and connecting with a therapist can be scary. Seeking professional help is not a sign of weakness or mental instability; it's a type of healthcare, like a medical doctor or a dentist. After establishing a safe and supportive environment, a therapist helps you explore your presenting concerns, learn new skills, and teaches you how to successfully navigate challenges faced in daily life. In this way, psychotherapy can promote inner strength and increase awareness of one's personal strengths and abilities.
If it sounds as though our philosophy fits with your needs, we encourage you to take that next step and connect. You never know what discoveries you could make, or the impact it could have.

About Jacie and Her Approach
Jacie received her training and Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the Arizona School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University. She has experience working in a variety of clinical settings, and established her private practice in Sarnia, Ontario in 2013. She was registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO) from 2015 - 2023, and has maintained a Certified General Membership with the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP) since 2013. Also in 2015, she completed the basic training required for an EMDR therapist.
In April of 2023, Jacie was accepted into the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She has been training with psychologists Dr. Dilys Haner (Navigating Onward) and Dr. Kay Reif (St. Clair Child and Youth Services) in pursuit of her certificate of autonomous practice as a Clinical Psychological Associate, which will allow her to provide the same services as a clinical psychologist (i.e., assessment, diagnosis, and intervention). She aims to complete her training in December of 2024.
Jacie's therapeutic approach is completely client-driven. With her guiding the process, you are in control of your own healing and you get to make the decisions on when and how you move through therapy. Her approach tends to be holistic in that you will explore factors that could be contributing to your current issues, past and present, and create a plan together on how to move forward. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, or anger, or are pursuing therapy to promote personal growth, Jacie seeks to provide a safe and supportive culture in which you can achieve your goals.

Fee for Services
What is the fee per session?
The rate for a 50-minute session will be updated in January 2025. Check back for details
Therapy sessions are 50-minutes in length. In EMDR Therapy, we have found that some clients prefer 90-minute sessions. This is something that can be discussed with your therapist (the fee will be adjusted to the length of your session)
How do I pay?
We accept payment in the form of cash, cheque or e-transfer. After we have received payment for your session, you will be provided with a receipt which you can submit to your extended health benefits plan for reimbursement. We do not bill directly to insurance.
Does OHIP cover Psychological Associates? Do you take Insurance?
Unfortunately, OHIP does not cover the cost for psychology. Occasionally you will see a Family Health Team with a psychologist or social worker employed, which is a service that is covered.
As for insurance, a psychological associate is covered under the term "Psychological Services" and covered by most third party benefits packages. We do not provide direct billing to your insurance. Rather, within 1-2 business days of your session, you will be emailed an invoice detailing the amount owed and payment directions. Once payment has been received (via cash, cheque, or e-transfer), you will receive a second invoice marked "PAID." Please check your junkmail for invoices as often we've found they are heading to that mailbox. While I am in supervised practice, you may find you must identify Dr. Dilys Haner as the clinician rather than myself (she is the psychologist who is supervising my work while I am working towards independent practice as a psychological associate).
